I love video contests for kids, and this one sounds like it’s a lot of fun. Kids fifteen years of age or younger are invited by The Westin New York at Times Square to “create their own original birthday song and video to celebrate the hotel’s sixth anniversary in October of this year. To enter, kids must create a video of themselves singing an original birthday song for the hotel, including the hotel’s name. Get creative—dress up, add dance moves—the New York City skyline is the limit! The creator of the winning video will enjoy a three-night trip for a family of four to celebrate New Year’s Eve in the Big Apple, including accommodations in a newly redesigned one-bedroom suite that comfortably sleeps four people ! Videos must be between 30 seconds (:30) and one minute and thirty seconds (1:30). The judging criteria includes: Judges Opinions, Creativity of Video, Costume and Prop Presentation.”

I just checked Westin’s YouTube channel and could only find ONE entry so far! That flabbergasts me because if I had a young child, I’d certainly encourage them to participate. A trip to New York for New Year’s eve is a thrill of a lifetime, so grab your kids, go over the official contest rules with them, and submit your entry.
