I can’t believe I’m writing about Christmas in September, but I guess NBC can’t wait till December to plan their holiday special, right? Have you captured any Christmas chaos or Chanukah mishaps on video? Do you have a taped moment that will make Americans laugh, cry, smile or cringe?

NBC is will be airing a new network special this December and they’ve launched a nationwide search to find entertaining and hilarious holiday incidents caught on tape. Maybe you caught Grandma sitting on the lap of the local mall Santa Claus? Or perhaps Uncle Murray was dancing on New Year’s Eve and you managed to tape it before he noticed what you were doing? Maybe your daughter was cooking a ham and the glaze caught on fire, turning the whole thing into a blazing ham volcano?*

(Edited to add: I’ve updated the information on this recent post)

I’ve searched their site, and while I can’t find any offer of prizes, I’ve found out that all videos used on the air will received $100, but even more important, I think it would still be great to have your video shown on national tv. Wouldn’t it be fun to be able to brag to everyone that your entry was chosen? According to their site, they want you download their submission form, fill it out, then mail it with your entry to:
Holiday Specials
Juma Entertainment
3800 Barham Blvd. Suite 409
Los Angeles, CA 90068

Make sure you make copies of what you send in because application materials will not be returned. Start looking through your video collection right now because all submissions must be received by October 10th!

*About the ham volcano… it really did happen in my home, I really did see it, but unfortunately, I was too shocked by the sudden turn of events to think of recording it for all posterity. I just wish I had owned a Flip Ultra video camera a few years ago. Oh well, at least now I can carry mine all the time and I don’t miss a thing. But I don’t think we’ll be reenacting the Flaming Ham incident any time soon.
