This mobile phone video contest , Goethe-Institut Languages without Borders, is open to everyone on the planet! The Grand Prize is 1000 euro (approx 1400 USD per xe.com ) and a trip to Berlin for the official awards ceremony. The runner up will receive 750 euro (approx 1000 USD) and third place gets 500 euro (approx 700 USD).

I love the concept of this contest. It asks questions such as, “What is the effect of multilingualism on or for political, social, intellectual and cultural life? What is its value for industry and science?” They want imaginative submissions, whether they’re spontaneous ideas or fully thought-out art works. They want you to show “why it‘s cool to be able to speak as many languages as possible!” Please note that entries are to be made with a mobile phone, and they even have a page of hints on how to make mobile phone videos. Btw, I think it’s great that they allow you to submit more than one entry. Contestants can be any age, but if you’re under 18, you need Parental Consent. Make sure you review their complete rules and remember, entries are to be uploaded to their site by 6 October 2008.
I have to admit that even though submission has no sound, it stole my heart:
